:: Overview ::

The successful candidate will develop and execute fit and technical design specifications from initial concept to final sample approval. You will ensure consistency of fit and quality on all merchandise. You must have at least 3 - 5 years pattern making experience.

:: What You Will Do ::

  • Develops production size specifications.
  • Conducts fit testing analyses and fittings on live models, and ensures vendors have interpreted the styling and specs correctly.
  • Instructs vendors on how to correct all quality or fit problems through written comments, sketches, pattern corrections, etc.
  • Liaises with buyers to understand styling requirements.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date records on sample approvals.
  • Inspects and approves samples for overall quality.


:: What You Will Bring ::

  • College level diploma in fashion design (including pattern making).
  • 3 - 5 years pattern making experience, including pattern creation, fittings, pattern correction, grading and flat measuring.
  • Experience in garment construction, inspection processes, and factory machinery.
  • Communication with Buyers to ensure styling details & cost requirements are fully understood, fit model, Imports Department to communicate style specifications to overseas vendors, work with sketchers to ensure sketches are representative of final product.
  • Communication with Vendors, to review each sample regarding specs and grading requirements.
  • Identifies quality and fit problems by recommending adjustments to construction, fabric and styling. Revises specs to meet customer needs and review annually to ensure consistency. Follows up with supplier on quality issues.
  • Decides garment specifications & construction requirements, approves adjustments on samples, and decides on need for revised sample.
