:: Overview ::
Our client is looking for a Chief Estimator who will review proposals specifications and drawings and attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimates. The successful candidate will have at least 10 years experience in a similar role.

Our client is a world-wide construction company with offices in Canada, the United States and Europe.
:: What You Will Do ::

Prepare estimates by calculating various statistical data such as quantity take-offs, material price lists, labor costs per man-hour and equipment costs and applying to complete scope of work;
-
Review/research historical data (purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc.) and compile summary reports to develop guidelines and precedence for future estimates;

Incorporate historical data into unit and man-hour figures; participate in developing bid package estimate documents;
-
Maintain files of working documents for back-up to estimate figures including (accurate) information on prices from suppliers through direct contact, sales brochures, price lists, etc;

Create, send and manage subcontractors request and proposals; reviewing design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering quality or availability of materials.

Develops and maintains guidelines and resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, government requirements, etc.

Establishing and maintaining an estimated department evaluation procedure.

Management experience with bid team oversight (project engineering, support staff, etc.)
-
Establishing a communication plan for the estimating department.
-
Liaising with operations in assistance for construction planning and scheduling.
-
Reviewing project to develop win strategy.
-
Arranging and managing bid turnover to operations
-
Assisting and preparing fee and risk analysis.

Conducting post bid review.

Ability to define project scope, delegate task and maintain profitability projects

Comfortable in working in an international environment

Bachelor in Civil Engineering

10 years experience working on the construction sector for a general Contractor
-
Experience estimating heavy civil works in the range of $100–1,500 Million CAD
-
Proficient with estimating software and MS Office
-
Mathematical skills
-
Required to travel within Ontario
