:: Overview ::
Reporting the VP Construction, the Senior Construction Estimator will be responsible to lead the estimating team from project selection to a successful tender closing. With 10+ years of experience within Canada, the Senior Estimator will work with commercial, industrial and institutional and civil projects with an emphasis on water and wastewater projects.

Our Client has been offering complete professional construction services for over 20 years. A non-union construction management, design-build and general contracting firm, our Client operates in the fields of commercial, institutional, industrial and civil work construction and renovation.
:: What You Will Do ::

Assist management in forecasting costs in the preparation of bids on construction projects.
-
Calculate cost estimates on subcontractors’ work, analyze subcontractors’ quotations and liaise with subcontractors for clarification of issues.

Study drawings and contract documents.
-
Maintain dialogue with suppliers, subcontractors, owners and architects/engineers.
-
Present bid to senior management for review.
-
Interpret project drawings and specifications.
-
Responsible for accurate calculations of quantities from project drawings.
-
Responsible for the preparation and documentation of project estimates.
-
Prepare computerized bids and documentation of project estimate.
-
Incorporate addendums to plans and specifications into on-going estimates.
-
Prepare the original schedule on which the bid estimate is assembled.

The position is based in Mississauga but may require some travel for site visits.
:: What You Will Bring ::
-
Hold a P.Eng, CET or Quantity surveying designation/degree/diploma along with or working towards Gold Seal Certificate.
-
10 years + Canadian working experience in estimating and tendering lump sum construction projects in the commercial, industrial, institutional and civil construction with emphasis on water & waste water sectors
-
Proven successful experience in estimating water and wastewater projects ranging from $1mm to $50mm.
-
Knowledge of local construction market including competitors, sub trades and suppliers (proven established working relationship with subs is key); local = GTA, Kitchener/Waterloo/London, Barrie, Whitby/Oshawa areas.

Understanding of the process mechanical and electrical systems inside a water treatment plant and/or M&E of buildings.
-
Capable of performing quantity takeoffs of site work, site services and concrete works.

Project management or site experiences an asset.
-
Able to conceptualize, build and schedule the project in their mind.

Team player, self-motivator.

Capable to lead the estimating team from project selection to a successful tender closing.
-
Be proficient with MS Office suite applications such as Excel, Word, MS Project; working knowledge of Timberline Estimating Software would be an asset.
