:: Overview ::

Our client is looking for an experienced Plant Manager within the Kitchener, Cambridge, Brantford region. Reporting to the President & Chief Executive Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of manufacturing operations within the plant, as well as related supported functions. This role requires a dedicated and proven leader able to work closely with all business functions.

:: What You Will Do ::

  • Plan, organize and direct the manufacturing operations to maximize return on assets.
  • Execute plans and processes which minimize manufacturing costs through effective utilization of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials, and capital.
  • Assure attainment of business objectives and production schedules while insuring product standards that will exceed our customers’ expectations.
  • Ensure all health and safety requirements are met at all times.
  • Implement manufacturing strategies and action plans to ensure that the facility supports corporate strategic initiatives.
  • Establish group and individual accountabilities throughout assigned departments for problem solving and cost reduction, both on a permanent and ad-hoc basis, depending on need. Encourage use of new techniques and focus on fact based problem solving.
  • Improve manpower utilization within existing departments and processes. Ensure schedule stability that allows for maximum return on efficiencies.
  • Manage spending against budget and in relation to changes in production volume.
  • Assure that plant and corporate policies are effectively administered and that employee issues are addressed in a timely fashion.
  • Work to establish LEAN manufacturing practices throughout the plant involving all employees.
  • Continually improve safety record by addressing both physical safety issues and employee safety attitudes. Maintain and improve housekeeping in all areas through a rigorous 5S program.
  • Maintain individual skills keeping up to date with latest production and production management concepts.


:: What You Will Bring ::

  • Post secondary degree preferably in an engineering or technical field.
  • 8-10 years experience in manufacturing environment with a minimum of 5 years senior management experience.
  • High energy level required.
  • Strong leadership skills, independent thinking, strong organizational and planning abilities and excellent analytical and problem solving skills are essential.
  • Driver of LEAN manufacturing principles.
  • Ability to attend and conduct meetings.
