Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Accounting Manager helps plan and co-ordinate all activities for all operating guest divisions. The ideal candidate will have a strong financial background and an ability to deliver high-level reporting and analysis.

:: Vos responsabilités ::

  • Assist in overseeing the General Accounting team, and help plan and co-ordinate all activities for all operating guest divisions (month-end, year-end, financial reporting, tax schedules, government reporting, forecasting cash requirements).
  • Develop, coach and motivate team, instilling a strong work ethic and excellent customer service, capable of adapting to complex and changing work environment.
  • Act as back-up to assistant controller for all areas related to accounting and financial reporting, policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for most of the balance sheet accounts: track and process all banking related transactions; preparation of actual and projected Cash Flows; responsible for all inventory transactions (set up of standard costs, calculate purchase price variance, perform revaluation); understand the intercompany concept (reconcile the balances, find and correct any out-of-balances); track Fixed Asset movements (continuity schedule for tax purposes).
  • Prepare Annual budget and Financial Projections for Cost of Sales adjustments, including the update of the internal costing system.
  • Aid Corporate Tax Manager with tax analysis.
  • Provide ad hoc SAP assistance.
  • Take ownership of the Account Reconciliation Tool.
  • Ensure compliance to assigned Corporate Policies and Procedures.
  • Prepare schedules and assist internal/external auditors.
  • Lead projects such as SAP implementation and financial statement redesign.
  • Approve monthly G/L Account reconciliations as well as track all G/L account changes.
  • Identify and support opportunities for continuous improvements, drive productivity and efficient use of resources and increase awareness of policies and procedures throughout the organization.


:: Qualifications & Compétences ::

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and knowledge of both Canadian and U.S. GAAP required.
  • Professional accounting designation required (CA, CGA or CMA – CA preferred).
  • Between 6 – 8 years of experience in public accounting and a multi-national corporation with extensive experience in the application of Canadian and U.S. GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  • Expertise in financial management, financial accounting, cost management, reporting, taxation and assessment of information technology systems.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Sarbanes Oxley compliance and business implications.
  • Possess strong technical knowledge to apply accounting rules and determine implications for the business. (eg. Revenue recognition, tax implications, or joint venture accounting).
  • Knowledge of financial management, process improvement tools such as Process Mapping, financial accounting, cost management, reporting, taxation and assessment of information technology systems strengths and weaknesses.
  • Be an active team member and capable of establishing strong relationships throughout the organization in Canada, Corporate head office and Financial Shared Services.
  • Communicate effectively in a variety of settings with all levels of management; able to explain Finance to non-finance managers in a clear and concise manner.
  • Capable of working under tight deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to access processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Excellent interpersonal and management skills.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills, creativity, leadership, and solid business acumen to resolve business issues in a professional manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and lead team to achieve objectives within tight timeframes by utilizing all available resources and working with different individuals and disciplines.
  • Understanding of organizational dynamics of a global corporation, its operating culture, effective work styles and the ability to achieve results in a matrix organization.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, SAP and AS400.
  • Bilingual (French and English): excellent written and oral communication skills in both languages.
